For their new premises in Ap Lei Chau, The Harbour School commissioned Globe Creative to design and instal a treehouse in a 2-storey atrium area created within a wing of the school building. As there was no staircase linking these 2 floors , Globe created a large tree trunk with spreading branches at the upper level - with a spiral staircase within the trunk.
The upper (partial) floor was the tree house, with branches spreading up into the canted roof area, and was fitted out with differently styled cabinets with glass doors, drawers and shelves for diverse curiosities which the students were to collect and place themselves. Natural timbers were used extensively - for walls, doors and stair treads.
The lower floor was an open-air activities area, with trees in tubs protruding from the front of the building.
